Solvent recyclers significantly reduce the solvent consumption of isocratic HPLC systems. They operate in conjection with your existing detector. When the detector output is at baseline, indicating that pure solvent is leaving the column, the solvent recycler redirects the outlet of the chromatograph back to the inlet reservoir. When the detector output is not at baseline, indicating that some component of the same is leaving the column, the solvent recycler directs the outlet of the chromatograph to a waste bottle, drain, or fraction collector. Since there is usually more baseline time (especially between runs), a solvent recycler can easily reduce your solvent requirements by more than 80%.
