The Spectra/Chrom® IS-95 Interval Sampler is a standard fixture in many quality and process control laboratories. It is used to take periodic samples from a liquid stream or from a reservoir. The stream may be an open flow or it may be enclosed in tubing or piping.

The samples may be analyzed later or stored as historical data.

The Spectra/Chrom® IS-95 Interval Sampler is versatile enough to meet any need. The size of each sample may be set in terms of a collection time or as a number of drops (a drop counter is included with each IS-95). The sample interval is set separately from the sample size; it can range from 6 seconds per sample to 16 hours and you can specify it with 1 second precision.

For sampling from reservoirs, the IS-95 can control a pump, enabling it to run either only during each sample period or over the course of the sample run.

For sampling from enclosed flowing streams (in tubing or piping), the IS-95 can control an electric solenoid valve or other device to divert either all or part of the flow to the sampler.

The Spectra/Chrom® IS-95 Interval Sampler can collect up to 173 samples when using 13 mm diameter test tubes. It can collect a lesser amount of samples when using tubes of other sizes. The maximum size of each sample will be dependent upon the tube size you are using and whether you use more than 1 tube for each sample.

The IS-95 Interval Sampler includes remote control capability. An external controller can start and stop the sampler, as well as follow its progress as it collects samples.

The IS-95 is designed to be a laboratory instrument and as such it should be used indoors in a clean, temperature and humidity controlled environment. It is not designed to be used outdoors.

The IS-95 is not sold "complete". At least one rack set must be purchased separately to use the IS-95. Additionally, remote control cables and automatic valves are also sold separately.

Use part number 141200 for a 115V version of the fraction collector and 141202 for a 230V version.

IS-95 Features



A similar device called a Fraction Collector is also available. The fraction collector is used to continuously collect uniform samples from a flowing stream (it does not pause between its samples).

124854 Rack set for up to 116 1 to 16 mm diameter tubes. Holds up to 115 samples. Samples may be up to 20 ml per tube using standard 16 x 150 mm test tubes. The maximum tube length is 200 mm.
124855 Rack set for up to 116 18 mm diameter tubes. Holds up to 115 samples. Samples may be up to 27 ml per tube using standard 18 x 150 mm test tubes. The maximum tube length is 200 mm. Flat-bottomed tubes are recommended for use with this rack set.
124856 Rack set for up to 42 28 mm scintillation vials. Holds up to 41 samples. Samples may be up to 20 ml per tube using standard 28 x 60 mm scintillation vials. The maximum tube length is 175 mm. Flat-bottomed tubes are recommended for use with this rack set.

124858 Dust cover for interval sampler. Prevents contamination of your samples by airborne dust and particulate matter. The dust cover can be installed and removed without disturbing any electrical or fluid connection.
124848 2-Way valve. May be used with low-pressure enclosed streams. This 2-way valve is connected between the flowing stream and the sampler and when opened by the sampler it allows a portion of the flow to be collected. This valve is rated to 30 psi and comes with fittings for 1/8 and 1/16 inch OD tubing.
124849 3-Way valve. May be used with low-pressure enclosed streams. This 3-way valve is connected in series with the flowing stream and when opened by the sampler it forces the entire stream to be collected by the sampler. This valve is rated to 30 psi and comes with fittings for 1/8 and 1/16 inch OD tubing.
124838 High-Flow 3-Way valve. May be used with low-pressure enclosed streams. This 3-way valve is connected in series with the flowing stream and when opened by the sampler it forces the entire stream to be collected by the sampler. This valve is rated to 30 psi and comes with fittings for 1/8 inch OD, 1/16 inch OD, and 1/16 inch ID tubing.
124815 Pump cable. This cable may be used to control a Spectrum MP-1 or MP-2 pump for use as a sampling pump. The pump may be programmed to run either only during the sample periods or until the last sample is collected.
